'TRANSIENT HEART'
INTERACTIVE ART
Transient Heart interprets the transient nature of human emotions through a geometric expression of 700 dancing lines. We tend to love when the forces around us feel perfect. However, such is the fleeting nature of connections and matters of heart, that the moment there is a departure from perfection, we tend to withdraw love and enter a state of restlessness. The lines respond to trigonometric equations derived from Hamid Naderi’s research. The equations use the position of the hand of the onlooker as variables. When the hand is carefully aligned at the centre, the lines represent a heart. When the hand departs from the centre, the lines make abstract compositions. Colour is also used as a variable to emphasise the transition. At the centre, the lines are red. As the hand goes towards the corners, lines change from red to black. The position of hand is tracked using Leap Motion and the algorithm runs in Processing.
